The Everglades is about 1.5 million acres of the flattest land you’ll probably ever see. Yet, the species of plants and animals that you find here are probably more diverse than you can find anywhere else in the US. Many of these species are not found anywhere else on the planet. The National Park Service reports that nine distinct habitats have been identified in the park that merge into one another and are always changing. So, even though you won’t find spectacular mountains, swift rivers or colorful canyons here, there is still an amazing array of things to see. Just keep your eyes and your mind open and you’ll be amazed.
