The weather in November was strange. I’m sure some people loved it — 60s and 70s — too warm for the furnace and too cool for the AC. But, when would we get that first snow? The answer: today! Just as the weatherman had predicted, we woke this morning to a quiet, steady snowfall. There was no wind and the flakes weren’t huge, but they fell for quite a few hours. So, I had to grab a camera, a sweatshirt, and a jacket and take a walk around the neighborhood.
It’s interesting to find patches of color in the mostly monochromatic world of winter. You find more after the first snow than later in the season. One of our tame flamingos will probably continue to offer its pink until it’s buried under a drift.
The gallery below contains a couple pictures from the neighborhood, including a photo of two hearty fishermen out in the lake. In a month or so they’ll have to drill through the ice to find their prey! The rest of the pictures are from the backyard. They include a few more images where some leaves have a final chance to show their colors before their ultimate demise.
Then it was time to light a new crackling, scented candle and enjoy the view from inside.
I hope your winter is going well.
