Unless you live in Hawaii or spend the whole day in the basement, you must have noticed by now that winter has not yet arrived. I mean, it has arrived technically. That happened on December 22nd. But, it hasn’t arrived in spirit. Where’s the snow and ice? The ground should be under a foot of snow by now. The lake should be solid ice by now. But, there’s only a few inches of frozen foam along the shore. The geese are still swimming around and feeding! The picture of Lake Mendota below was taken this morning.
I know that some people are happy about the lack of snow, but my wife and I just bought new cross-country skis. The weather even caused me to have trouble getting in the Christmas spirit this year. In fact, I just bought the last item on my shopping list today, three days after Christmas! In case you’re missing winter as much as I am, here are a few pictures of what it should look like this time of year!
