I always seem to be attracted to glass, reflections, shadows, high contrasts. That seems rather strange to me since if I had to define what I most like to photograph I would say nature. And yet, time after time my attention is grabbed by that bright shiny object, especially if it’s also colorful. Maybe it’s kind of like a kid finding a shiny penny in the street. So, instead of trying to explain it in some abstract, impossible-to-understand way like you see in most “artist statements” at galleries, let me just say that I was walking through the Chazen Art Museum yesterday and this scene caught my eye. I had my Canon S95 in my pocket so I stopped and tried some different angles and views. This is just one of the results. I’m not sure it’s the best; that often changes as time passes. But, let me know what you think.
