I don’t think it would be an exaggeration to say that there is no other city on earth quite like New Orleans. The French Quarter, Mardi Gras, jazz, street cars, great food, distinctive architecture, history, the mighty Mississippi River … there’s something for everyone.
We visited this amazing city in January 2005 when I went there for a conference. With only 2 and 1/2 days to tour, we didn’t bother to rent a car; we just focused our attention on the French Quarter and other places within walking and street car reach of our Canal Street hotel. Fortunately for us, our short time coincided with the opening of Mardi Gras.
