Mothers Day always gives me mixed emotions. My mother died of breast cancer when I was 21. She was 59 and, when I was 21, that seemed old. Now, of course, I realize how young that really was. Even though I was technically an adult, I was incapable of understanding or appreciating the difficult job of being a parent.
As I grew older, and hopefully wiser, it made me sad to think that my mother died before I was ever able to show my love and appreciation for all that she did to raise me and four other children on a farm far from the city life to which she was accustomed. I wish she had been able to get to know my wife and meet our two wonderful children.
So, although I can’t go back in time and give her these wishes, I will send my thoughts of a Happy Mothers Day to the memory of my mother — Clara Grace Faillaci. And, assuming that Wi-Fi goes to heaven, I would like to show her these pictures of my amazing wife, sons, and sweet daughter-in-law.
Much love to all of you from your son, husband, father, and father-in-law.
