If you follow me on Facebook you already know this. I was recently asked to post a nature photo on Facebook every day for a week as part of the #challengeonnaturephotography. It was a challenge because it was difficult to decide what photos to include. I didn’t want to post a set of similar photos like all flowers or all animals; I thought it would be more interesting for people to see a wide range of images that fall into a category that I would call “nature.” My interpretation was quite simple — just plants and animals; no people or buildings.
In case you didn’t have the opportunity to see my photos on Facebook and are interested to see what I posted, they are all included below along with a brief remark that I made about each one.

November 30, 2015 – Photo 1 of 7 for the #challengeonnaturephotography : Since it’s raining today I thought it would be fun to post a photo from a rainy day I experienced while hiking in Monument Valley. Sometimes it’s good to have a raincoat in the pack.
December 1, 2015 – Photo 2 of 7 for the #challengeonnaturephotography: Steam from hot springs filled the air on a cold morning in Yellowstone. I walked into a meadow to photograph a river flowing through the steam. Out of the mist emerged this view of two bison butting heads. They didn’t actually fight; I think it was their version of a fist bump.
December 2, 2015 – Photo 3 of 7 for the #challengeonnaturephotography: Autumn may have sneaked out the back door, but it left some beautiful memories behind.
December 3, 2015 – Photo 4 of 7 for the #challengeonnaturephotography: For a change of pace from yesterday’s colors, take a stroll down this black-and-white path.
December 4, 2015 – Photo 5 of 7 for the #challengeonnaturephotography: Mountain goats in the Black Hills of South Dakota are used to people, but if you get close that Mom will keep her eyes on you.
December 5, 2015 – Photo 6 of 7 for the #challengeonnaturephotography: Sometimes all you need is reflections in a lake on a sunny day.
December 6, 2015 – Photo 7 of 7 for the #challengeonnaturephotography: For the final photo of the set I couldn’t resist this image taken in the wilds of my own backyard. I’ve photographed our neighborhood fox many times. She knew I would have my camera ready so she’s cleaning up her son a bit in preparation for their family photo.
